Why We’re Building Valoria – A Few Personal Words

Work is in full swing. Today, we’d like to share what drives us and the values we want Valoria to stand for.

Dear community,

It’s been a little while since our last post. Behind the scenes, we’re still putting our hearts into Valoria – and with every step, we grow more excited about the day we can welcome you into this world together.

Today, though, I’d like to talk a little less about individual features. What matters to me is telling you why we’re making this project in the first place, and what we hope Valoria will become.

For many of us, MMORPGs mean more than levels, gear and numbers. They bring back memories of our first proper party, someone who stopped to help with buffs, or guild nights that carried on long after they were supposed to end. Of the people who gave us a reason to log back in the next day.

That’s the feeling we want to bring back with Valoria. With ideas and improvements of our own, but with a clear understanding of what we love about this genre.

Above all, that means fairness. We don’t want Valoria to become a project where your wallet decides whether you can keep up. Progress should feel earned, playing together should matter, and supporting the project should build trust.

Being honest with you matters just as much to us. We want to show you what we’re working on, explain our decisions, and be open when something takes longer or hasn’t been decided yet. We certainly won’t get everything right on the first try. That makes it all the more important to listen and be willing to improve.

Valoria is taking shape as an independent community project. And we need you to be part of that: your experience, your feedback, your bug reports, and sometimes simply a fresh pair of eyes on something we’ve been looking at for far too long ourselves.

We want these principles to guide our work – in development, in how we treat one another, and in the decisions still ahead of us. We want to be held to them as we move forward.

Thank you for being here for the project already. We’re looking forward to the next steps – and especially to the moment when all this preparation turns into adventures we share.
